Caregiver's Stress


Family caregiving is a rewarding experience, however, it carries a high potential for burnout. Caring for someone with Alzhiemer’s or other related dementia can be difficult and challenging. It can drain us emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Often, feelings of anger and resentment can set in. In the midst of caregiving we may neglect our own well-being and get stressed out. Stress is a normal part of life and is not all bad. But, when stress becomes a constant in our daily lives, it transforms into distress. Stress can lead into physical and behavioral problems. I can help you learn how to live a more balanced life while caring for your love one.

Signs of Caregiver’s Stress

  • Isolation
  • Resentments
  • Anger
  • Sadness
  • Guilt
  • Grief
  • Frustration
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Headaches, backaches, tense muscles
  • Irritability

Stress Relief Techniques

  • Eat nutritious meals
  • Get plenty of sleep and rest
  • Ask for help with shopping, cooking, household chores, etc.
  • Seek assistance from a Home Health Agency or Day Adult Program
  • Engage in relaxing and breathing techiques
  • Join a support group
  • Take time to pray, meditate, and reflective journaling
  • Listen to music
  • Go to a movie, play, etc.


Family Caregivers Circle of Support Group-
This FREE monthly group offers support, dialogue, connections with local resources, a well as educational opportunities around caregiving and self care. The focus is on caregiving for parents with Alzheimer's or other related dementia. Please CALL or EMAIL for more information or to RSVP. The group will begin on Friday June 21, 2019 from 1pm to 2pm.
